It's been almost a month since I wrote a journal entry so here is one finally!
Since Rusudan's shoot I've been in a whirlwind of events and interesting photo-ops.
As a photojournalist for EastboundFX.com I attended the AnimeNEXT 08 Convention in the Meadowlands Expo Center of New Jersey this past weekend. I have now seen the glory of cosplay (people dressing as their favorite characters) and have plenty of pictures to show for it (Almost 300!). I've placed a few up on here so far with more to come as soon as I figure out the characters each person represented. You can already see Tifa, Rinoa, and Yuffie of Final Fantasy kicking the ass of a character from Boys over Flowers in the gallery featuring Jessica (from EastboundFX.com), Lara, Melanie, and Carlos. They did a great skit for the Cosplay Masquerade and costume contest held at the convention Saturday night.
Union Square seems like the center of New York arts and entertainment unlike Times Square and other places in the city ever could be. At any given time you can walk through and experience something truly fun, interesting, amazing, funny, exciting, or just plain weird! With my camera always with me I am at the forefront of great picture opportunities.
My main passion has been capturing images of the squirrels that roam the trees and grass around Union Square Park scavenging for food or chasing people for some of theirs. These cute rodents haven't let me down yet for great shots. I also have been trying to get more pictures of my other animal fascination of sparrows. These quick and agile birds can seemingly fly through any tight spot from chain-link fences to the narrowest of tree branches with no fear or problem. I also love how they torment pigeons and squirrels by being able to grab food away from them before they have a clue the sparrows are even around.
Finally, no Union Square Park gallery is complete without the singers, dancers, musicians, skaters, and any other visitors to the park that give it a distinct personality from the rest of the city. With New York University, Baruch College, the East Village, the Flatiron District, and many other culturally rich pieces near Union Square, the park is never at a loss for talent and intrigue and my camera will always be ready to capture it for all of you to see.
I hope you all continue to enjoy the images placed on the walls of this exhibit hall called DevilishSaintNY and please catch my next installment of this journal soon!
